We have spent most of the day in Amsterdam and have really enjoyed the
walk. We leave for Nairobi in one hour and hopefully will get some
sleep this flight. We should be in Zambia tomorrow.

Backpacks

Off we go!

The McDougall African adventure begins. Monday January seventh was an exciting day. Mary saw the thyroid specialist in Sudbury and he gave us the good news that she was okay to travel. So we collected supplies, packed up and made arrangements. After some tearful goodbyes we headed to Toronto on Thursday afternoon. Our plan is to fly to Amsterdam Friday evening then Nairobi and land in Lusaka, Zambia on Sunday. We will spend the next three months at Grace Academy in Ndola. The backpacks are full, the challenge now will be to carry them!

We are in Ottawa getting Aly settled in university. I am trying out this new iPhone. We will be going back to blind River on Monday. This was the first picture taken with the phone.

Plans are finally coming together.

After months of planning, preparation, and set backs we hope to be off to Africa on January 11th. We fly from Toronto to Amsterdam then on to Nairobi and hopefully arrive in Lusaka, Zambia on the 13th.
We spent a wonderful holiday time around Blind River and Thessalon. Thanks to kind hospitality we were able to house sit and have a hot shower now and again. It was really nice to have Aly back home for the holiday. Josh and Lynne spent Christmas in Kenora. We really missed them.
