At The Shedd Aquarium
Dad has petted a stingray and a sturgeon today. I found a bench and am sitting while he looks at the amazon exhibit. It's really well done but it's tiring.
Skipped Hancock centre as the only parking spot we could find was $31 for 2 hours and then we went to go in and we were to tall with cartop carrier. So we left for Iowa. Stopped in Iowa city.
Then went to a Walmart and got some food. Pulled into state campground before dark and made a fire and cooked steak. Boiled rice in bag on your little cooker and salad. Delicious!! Best meal we've had in days! Got more milk and cereal for breakfast. Definitely not gluten or lactose free this trip!!
Staying at mud lake campground. Came into Dubuque for a drive and ate out at Olive Garden. All you can eat pasta, salad and hot bread sticks! Needless to say gluten. But only had one serving of everything. Now heading back to campground.
We just packed up and leaving campground in South Dakota. Yesterday traveled up Mississippi looking for harpers ferry to ride across the. Mighty Mississippi but when we got there it was a myth. Nothing but the name was left. Toured the effigy mounds. Then crossed the river on a bridge into Wisconsin. Had Wendy's lunch and then drove for rest of day and found campground in dark for night. Today hoping to go to rapid city nd see Mount Rushmore. Supper yesterday was on the road tortilla chips and salsa- veggies I guess you could say!! Breakfast sharing a banana and apple so we are getting our fruits and veggies!!
Stopped somewhere to see the only corn palace in the world. Under renovation so we only saw the outside. Then went to 1880 village but it was mostly closed so didn't stop. Then went to the badlands of South Dakota. They were pretty impressive. We spent about four hours there walking trails. Took lots of pictures. Wanna see some poor farmland!! Takes 28-32 acres of land to feed one cow.
Wow. Busy day. Saw the worlds only corn palace!! The largest sculpture of a bulls head in the world!! Then we spent about four hours wandering through the badlands of South Dakota. They were amazing. We took lots of pictures. Then we went to Wall Drugs. It was pretty interesting. Look it up- interesting story. Now we are in rapid city. Tomorrow planning to go to church and then to Mount Rushmore. I was telling dad that I finally feel more relaxed!! Only taken a week!!
