Greeting from Grace Academy. It's March 15th and we had very nice day as the weather was sunny and about 25 Celsius with a nice breeze. A youth team of sixteen teenagers and four adults arrived yesterday to the cheers of the kids. The team is from British Columbia and are here to do a summer camp at Grace and one of the compounds in Ndola.

Today I did some painting, fixed a bicycle, and played with the kids.
Mary is still feeling a bit weak, but spent the afternoon sewing with
the older girls. It is the evening now and I am relaxing with time to
write some email. All the best!

I am sitting here in the dark as the power is off for the second time
to day. We went to a meeting last night with some other "muzungu"s and
one fellow said the power situation is getting worse and worse.
We met at the Wegner's house and most of the folks worked at Teki
Bible college in Ndola. Mary was talking to a lady who had spent some
time on the Congo, a place Mary would like to visit. She said it was
not safe at this time. Mary will have to be content with just seeing
it from Grace.
Another couple work with the "call boys"or nephews as they call them.
These are the kids that call people to the buses. They live off the
streets and have many problems.
The Wegners have a very nice house and we had a nice time visiting.
The have four kids three of whom live and go to school in Ndola. Their
oldest daughter is finishing grade twelve in the states.

On march 7th we left Ndola and travelled west to Chingola. It is a town about 150km away and stayed at the Hibiscus Guest House. It was and enjoyable stay and we went to eat at an Indian restaurant. On saturday we continued west the turned north for 18km til we came to Chimpfusi.

This is the worlds largest chimpanzee orphanage and rescue for other
animals like Billy the hippo. We had a good time and I really enjoyed
offroading African style. We got back to Grace late Saturday very tired.

A day we only get every four years and here in Zambia it was raining
again. The day started with a 5km walk at 5:45 and it was bright and
sunny by 6:30. The clouds started rolling in by mid morning and
thunder and lightning by noon. The rain came down at one and lasted
most of the afternoon. Mary was in the grade one class and gave treats
out at the end of the day. As she was giving out the treats Philimon
was in an angelic pose as she came by. Even though he had a bad day
she could not resist giving him a candy. After he recieved it he said
"God bless you Auntie Mary".

Today is Wednesday and we spent the day working on repairing shelves
in the library and getting books set up. We also worked on the school
shoe shelves. We hand another storm with hail this time and it has
been hot during the day but usually cools at night.

Today we took the older kids from Grace to another orphanage on the
other side of Ndola which is very close to the border with the Congo.
The name of the orphage is Jubliani Childrens Village. We played
football against their team and we had great fun until the storm hit
and we got rained out. The best or worst part of the trip was the
ride there in the back of the truck.
On the way home we came across a truck accident (drunk driver) and two
young boys were hurt. The police don't have cars so someone went and
picked up the police while I gave some firstaid at the scene.
Materials are limited so rolls of toliet paper were used as a
compress. Sandra, Karly and I took the boys to the hospital in Ndola ,
that was an experience ( for another time). It made for along day as
we did not get home til late. I think the boys will be okay.
